My goal is to improve the soil, to give back to the land and grow what is in season and to minimize my carbon footprint. To tread a s lightly as possible on this earth.
My Yarn...
I was born on a sheep farm in Mid Canterbury, New Zealand, where getting your hands in the dirt, whether it be from the vegetable garden, the flower garden, or making mud pies, was just part of the course.
My mother taught me resourcefulness and...if it breaks you keep fixing it until you can't fix it no more!!!
I think I was definitely born with green thumbs, it is inherent in me, as it is with many of my family.
I have the fondest memories of my grandparents garden, my grandfather was forever bent over in the dahlia patch.
My two passions are music and plants where they marry together perfectly. I can't have one without the other. They both evoke memories and feelings that are hugely personal and moving and nobody can take that away from you.
Flowers imported in the supermarket have the highest carbon footprint of almost any product. There are issues of demand, flowers don't grow naturally all year round so to expect this is unreasonable.
Our consumption of flowers has to have a positive effect, as they are beautiful, they bring joy and evoke memories, it makes sense that they come from a place of love from the land.
Tiny changes can make a huge impact.
