One of my favourite flowers… the Hellebore more commonly known as the Winter Rose.
It's one of the few flowers to emerge in the garden during winter when the rest of the garden is still asleep, it's a sign that spring is just around the corner.
The Language…
A bit of a double edge sword this one... symbolizes serenity, tranquility and peace yet it can represent a scandal or anxiety.
The Cut Flower…
Some varieties last longer than others, particularly the lighter coloured varieties.
To condition, dip stems in boiling water for 10 seconds, then rest horizontally in water overnight. Also waiting for the seed heads to appear makes the flower less likely to droop.
The flower heads look stunning floating in a bowl of water, where you can see their gorgeous faces.
Dried and pressed Hellebore flowers make an impact. Waiting for the seed head to appear is best, they keep their shape and colour. Hang upside down in a cool/dry area to dry.
they are just beautiful, aren't they :)
