THE GOOD SEED is the creation of Chris Abbott, a creative florist offering fresh and dried floral arrangements.
I have a philosophy of love for the environment and I am committed and passionate about providing customers flowers and gifts with an environmental and ethical approach.
I was born on a sheep farm in Mid Canterbury, New Zealand, where getting your hands in the dirt, whether it be from the vegetable garden, the flower garden, or making mud pies, was just part of the course.
My mother taught me resourcefulness and...if it breaks you keep fixing it until you can't fix it no more!!!
I think I was definitely born with green thumbs, it is inherent in me, as it is with many of my family.
I have the fondest memories of my grandparents garden, my grandfather was forever bent over in the dahlia patch.
My two passions are music and plants which marry together perfectly. I can't have one without the other. They both evoke memories and feelings that are hugely personal and moving and nobody can take that away from you.
I studied Floristry in 2008 and gained a level 2 & 3 qualification. I had the beauty of learning from a traditional tutor and a tutor who had a more wild and rustic approach. I worked for several different florists until I opened my own business
Eden Flowers in 2012.
In 2018 I went travelling to further my career. I worked on a flower and hop farm in Kent, walked the Comino Norte in Spain, became a Camp Warden and solo tramped the Lycian Way in Turkey raising money for MAG Mines Advisory Group.
Covid brought me home .
In 2021 I studied beekeeping and gained a level 3 certificate in Apiculture and completed the Floret Flower Farming course.
I've decided to finally dig up a patch of dirt next door to grow flowers...watch this space
